Aktualisierung (möglichst) an jedem Werktag, jeweils am späten Vormittag. Das jeweilige Datum bezieht sich auf den Tag eines Ereignisses (Medienberichte können durchaus mit gehöriger Verspätung kommen). Wir weisen darauf hin, dass diese Daily News immer nur einen momentanen Sachstand reflektieren können, und dass einzelne Meldungen ggf. einer späteren Ergänzung oder auch Verifizierung bedürfen.

Updates dependent on availability of the editor,  usually every work-day in late morning (German time). Given dates usually eflect the time of an event, not of media reporting it. UNITED KINGDOM (multinational)
Exercice „Joint Warrior 17-1“ kicked off ... until 06 Apr in waters around Scotland ... 32 ships/boats, 5 submarines, 70 aircraft/helicopters from 13 nations incl. NATO SNMG-1 and SNMCMG-1 participating ... JW 17-1  will include exercise „Information Warrior 17“ which will will involve artificial intelligence (AI) and test the protection of warships and submarines against cyber attacks

ARCTIC (multinational)
In Boston (USA) the Arctic Coast Guard Forum (Canada, Finland, Greenland/Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, USA) signed a „doctrine on tactics and information sharing for operations in Arctic waters“
(rmks: Russia and NATO countries sign up protocol for combined operations!)

AUSTRALIA
Both helicopter carriers „Canberra“ and „Adelaide“ unable to respond to Queensland cyclone emergency ... stuck at Sydney's Garden Island ... propulsion problem on „Canberra“ identified during recent sea trials needs to be fixed - and requires precaution inspections aboard „Adelaide“

ISRAEL
The Israel Navy is modifying the design of its new SA’AR-6 corvettes (German design) to meet growing rocket threat to offshore energy assets ... besides Barak-8 air defence missiles to carry two Iron Dome launchers, each capable of firing as many as 20 Tamir intercepting missiles

JAPAN – NORTH KOREA
As the threat from North Korea’s missiles grows, an influential group of politicians is publicly arguing for Japan to acquire the ability to strike North Korea instead of having to rely on the US for its defence

PIRACY
Horn of Africa: Somali (Puntland) pirates reportedly released a Somali fishing dhau and three (remaining) crew held hostage ... hijacked on 24 Mar

RUSSIA

  • Current modernization of OSCAR-II submarines (SSGN) will triple numbers of missiles on board from 24 to 72 ... besides usual SS-N-19 will carry SS-N-26 anti-ship missiles and Kalibr land attack cruise missiles ... all to be fired from same (universal) launchers
  • Black Sea Fleet NATYA class mine sweeper „Valentin Pikul“ has joined the MedSqn operating off Syria ... relieved sister ship „Kovrovets“ which has resumed home transit towards Sevastopol
  • Vympel shipyard reportedly to „pay fines“ to the MoD for fitting GRACHONOK class interceptor craft with „faulty diesel engines“

RUSSIA – SYRIA
„Syrian Express“: Northern Fleet ROPUCHA class landing ship „Georgiy Pobedonosets“ has completed a 10-month Black Sea / Mediterranean deployment in support of „Syrian Express“ ... after delivering a final shipment of military cargo to Syria, has left the Mediterranean (Gibraltar) on home transit

TURKEY
In recent days, a number of Turkish Navy warships (with Fleet Commander embarked in frigate „Barbaros“) and submarines have passed the Bosphorus towards the Black Sea ... observed same direction towing of hulk of a decommissioned PERRY class frigate (with marks for use as target ship) indicates upcoming major exercise with live firing (sinkex) in Black Sea waters

YEMEN
US Trump government deliberating greater role of US forces in conflict against Houthi... may implement plan (already developed by previous Obama government) focusing on/around Red Sea port of Hodeidah ... air attacks (aircraft, helicopters, Tomahawk) on Houthi targets, but no ground forces ... naval ships to prevent infiltration of aid to the Houthis and their allies (Iran)

A Western Fleet task group with destroyer „Mumbai“, frigate „Trishul“ and tanker „Aditya“ will make a cruise to the Mediterranean ... visit Haifa (Israel) 9 – 12 May
